OUR STORY
Family Inspired Business

The experience of caring for family members with
Vascular Dementia and Alzheimer's helped us understand the difficulties faced by people living with dementia
and their carers but it also made us realise the
well-being benefits of green spaces, something we felt
we could provide here for people who
need any level of care.
After visiting a sensory farm near Manchester
and being inspired by the work undertaken there,
we began to look at how we could deliver
outdoor based activities on our small holding
for people and their carers.

ABOUT LOWER HOUSE SENSORY FARM
Opened in 2018, Lower House Sensory Farm is a dementia friendly space
offering outdoor based activities for people being cared for at home,
day care and residential care. Schools, groups and clubs also welcome.

Our pre-booked sessions involve activities such as gardening,
exploring, watching wildlife, pony and animal care and spending time
in the polytunnels and vegetable and fruit gardens.
Refreshments are provided which can be enjoyed
in The Bothy or the outdoor seating area.
We also have a disabled toilet and on site parking.

The Bothy is our indoor room with seating and a log burner which is a great place for socialising, meetings, clubs, music sessions and those bad weather days.
Please note:
Lower House Sensory Farm is a working smallholding and a family home,
is not an open public space.
